Now that winter is approaching fast, cold nights are turning into cold days. To stay warm on your treks around campus, don't forget these cozy items.
Polar Fleece: Fleece is the ultimate insulator, keeping you warm with a relatively lightweight fabric. The North Face's Khumbu Jacket is a great option - it comes in a variety of colours and makes for a fabulous layering piece. If you're looking for more cost friendly options, L.L.Bean offers just as many colours in different zip up and pullover styles.
Scarves: Scarves are a perfect accessory, since they're relatively inexpensive and can be used to match or complete an outfit. For chic and functional scarves, check out J.Crew. They have brights, stripes, argyle, wool, cashmere, silk, and any other scarf suitable for the season.
Thermals: Old Navy is one of the best places to go for inexpensive basics that you can repurchase as the seasons come and go - thermals being no exception. Waffle knit tops are essential in winter layering and should be a staple in everyone's seasonal closet.
Leggings: Many of you may be wondering why leggings would be on this list. In fact, leggings are a very good option for layering and preventing bulky winter clothing. Leggings go well under longer skirts and boots, but surprisingly, they are a lifesaver if you want to wear jeans around campus in very cold weather. Even though you may feel silly wearing leggings underneath your favourite pair of jeans, you will thank yourself for putting them on during a long walk across campus in the wind. Find warm leggings at American Apparel among other places like Target or Walmart.
Coffee, Tea, or Hot Chocolate: Simply carrying a mug or tumbler full of coffee as you walk to class will warm your body - especially your hands! Starbucks, the perennial favourite place for coffee, tea, or hot chocolate has seasonal drinks to satisfy the winter season. If you like pumpkin, the Pumpkin Spice Latte is amazing!
