Meeting up with old high school friends, whether it is just a vacation from school or moving back home for good after graduation, trying to reconnect with old friends can be a big transition. Reconnect with your old high school pals by planning a night to get together and reminisce about your favorite high school memories. Invite friends over to watch old movies, share old pictures, and make scrapbooks that you can all share with each other! This will surely get the ball rolling for lots more summer fun!
INVITATIONS ONLY
Stick to a crafty theme by creating your own invitations. Consider making mock reunion invites. Who says you can’t have a reunion after only a few years? Decorate the front with a “Class of _____” theme on the front. Consider personalizing each invite by scanning pictures of you and your buds for each individual invitation.

REMEMBER WHEN?
You’re invited!
When: Friday 8/10/07
I made one by using Microsoft Works “Event Flyer” template. It was fun, easy and only took about 2 minutes to create. Not to mention, FREE! This will let your guests know that although you’ve all made new college friends, you’re excited to spend the summer with your hometown faves!

If you’re willing to spend a little, PaperDirect.com has some fabulous movie theme invites, which will fit perfectly for your night filled with viewing old movies from high school!
These particular invites are 7.99 for a pack of 25 and are available at www.PaperDirect.com. The envelopes are also super cute and can be purchased in combination with the invites for $9.99 per pack of 25.

SWEET SLURPS
Given that the theme of your party is reconnecting with hometown friends, consider trying “Down Home Punch.” This bittersweet addition will certainly get your guests ready for a night full of reminiscing!
Down Home Punch
-1 Part Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey
-1 Part peach schnapps
-1 Parts sweet and sour mix
-2 Parts orange juice
-1 Part lemon lime soda
-1 splash grenadine syrup

For those under 21, consider making non-alcoholic frozen drinks! Bring back the days of high school spirit with frozen mocktail yogurt drinks. Dress it up by adding food coloring to match your high school colors!
The pink hurricane is a favorite of mine. It’s easy to make and doesn’t require a lot of materials-definitely budget friendly!

4 scoops vanilla frozen yogurt

EASY EATS
Given that you’re planning a night filled with movie watching, picture sharing, and scrapbooking, do not fret about the menu. Stick to the basics with simple munchies and snacks. Some great snack ideas include dips, veggie sticks, brownies and popcorn. Consider making cream cheese taco dip. This mixture of cheese and taco meat is inexpensive to make in large portions and will surely be a hit at your party!
Cream Cheese Taco Dip
2 (8 oz.) pkgs. Cream cheese
1 (16 oz.) carton sour cream
1 can bean dip
1 pkg. taco seasoning mix
1 c. grated Cheddar cheese
(Recipe via www.cooks.com, but can also be found on the inside of any Philadelphia cream cheese box!)
Dip tastes best served warm, but can easily be heated up for leftovers.
SO TAKE THE PHOTOGRAPHS AND STILL FRAMES IN YOUR MIND
Now this is where the fun really starts! Entertain your guests for hours with a walk down memory lane. Sure comparing stories about new college friends and experiences can be fun, but reconnect with your old pals by devoting a night to your favorite memories. Suggest that everyone bring one item of memorabilia, whether it be a photo album, a basketball jersey, prom video, concert ticket etc. You get the idea! Everyone can go around and share why they brought their particular item.
I did this with my friends a few months ago, it may sound cheesy but it rally helped to bring us all together again. Even if you’ve been out of high school only a year or four, sharing old stories is the perfect way to re-establish a friendship with those you’ve been away from for months.
Keep the party going for hours with tons of stories and games. Also, consider scrapbooking. Trade pictures with your guests, print out old favorites and put together a fabulous scrapbook that you can each enjoy!
