Here's more about Mallary (bio taken from MallaryTenore.com):
"As associate editor of The Poynter Institute’s website, Poynter.org, I report on the media news industry and edit the site’s How To section. I like to unpack media trends, and I’m especially interested in how technology is changing the way we tell stories.
Other topics I like to cover include: social media, new tools for longform journalism, diversity in the media, women in technology, corrections, commenting on news sites, and writing tips and techniques. I also teach social media sessions in seminars at Poynter, and have led sessions for other institutions, such as Yale University.
I came to Poynter in June 2007 for the institute’s summer fellowship for young journalists and then stayed on for a year-long fellowship before being hired full-time in November 2008. I’ve written for The Dallas Morning News, The Boston Globe, The Tampa Bay Times, The Worcester Telegram & Gazette, The Lowell Sun, The MetroWest Daily News and Rhode Island Monthly magazine. I also served as editor-in-chief of the student newspaper at Providence College, my alma mater.
I grew up in Holliston, Mass., and have lived in Florida for five years. I miss a lot of things about up north — my family and friends, foliage, historic buildings, ice cream shops on Cape Cod, and the familiarity of a place I called home for so long. I’ve adjusted to life in Florida, though, and am happy with the new home I’ve created for myself here.
I’m currently working on a memoir, which is coming along slowly but surely."
