According to the U.S. Census 2000, women made up an astounding 54.8 percent of University undergraduates and 54.3 percent of graduate students. That is, 9.6 million women pursuing a post-secondary education, and this number will continue to grow. As a socio-economic group, these women already show themselves to be savvy consumers.
The Road To Making Chic
UniversityChic.com was started in the fall of 2006 by Christie Garton, a law student at the University of Pennsylvania, who noticed a lack of informative and reliable information on the web for women in both undergraduate and graduate school. With articles written for and by university women, message boards, a classified section, and much more, UniversityChic.com stands poised to become the one-stop shop for university women looking for resources and a sense of community on the web.
