Quick and Easy Excercises For Couples

I have multiple friends who agree that once you settle down with a boyfriend it is all too easy to put on the pounds. Perhaps you and your BF go out to fancy off-campus meals each weekend, or you stay in and have lazy pizza pajama days a bit more often than you used to. While its always nice to have someone who loves you for you, it’s not a good idea to let yourself slip into bad habits.

Working out doesn't have to be a "me" thing. If you're craving some fun ways to bond with your boy, you might want to test drive one of these couple-friendly excercises the next time you're tempted to stay in and go the couch potato route.

Go the distance with partner runs: If it’s warm enough, grab your boyfriend, a good pair of tennis shoes and head outside for a jog. Try and keep a similar pace; if one person is faster than the other it will make the run a bit more challenging. And competition is sexy! Before you head out, make workout playlists for each other so that you get a shake-up in your own couple workout soundtrack.

Share a six-pack: It can be hard to tone your abs, but if you and a partner are in it together, it gets a bit easier and a lot more fun. Sit facing your boyfriend in a sit-up position with your knees bent. You partner should be standing. Find a medicine ball or something equally heavy so you can play a game of catch while working through your reps. Keep switching it up and watch the pounds melt away!

Dare to ZUMBA: Dance and workout classes at the gym are typically packed, and it can be hard to motivate yourself to go if you think other gym-goers could show you up in a dance routine or an intense step class. Bring your BF along for added confidence! He may hate you at first for making him groove to Zumba’s latin beats or pop and lock it in hip hop class, but chances are he’ll get goofy and have fun with it -- ESPECIALLY if he's with you. (If you’re gym offers cardio striptease, I have a feeling you won’t find too much arguement over a dance class visit…)

Push-up Party: Craving Madonna's rock-hard biceps? You might have to step it up to hit that goal,  but this is still a fun workout that will tone up your arms in no time! Both you and your BF should be in push-up position and should orient yourselves in a vertical line, with you in front and your boy behind you. Instead of putting your feet on the floor, you should put your feet on your BF’s shoulders. Start doing push-ups together and don’t quit until you’ve done as many as you can!

Try out these tips and be sure to research new ones! Even if you can't work-out together, going to the gym at the same time is a great way to get some couple time in while you bike or run on the treadmill. Have fun and get fit! And when in doubt, don’t forget the best partner workout of all… ;)
